Kuwait bans school registration for Bedoon without IDs

Head of private education Mohammed Al-Dahes stated to Al-Qabas newspaper that the ministry of education’s private administration informed all schools not to let any Bedoon register if he/she does not carry the special Bedoon ID. Al-Dashes said the Central Agency is issuing IDs for everyone and therefore no one should enroll in school using the hospital certificate of Birth. This comes as part of the Central Agency’s campaign against the Bedoon as they attempt to force Bedoon to get the new ID cards that divide them into three groups of legible for citizenship, illegible but allowed to stay, and illegible. Bedoon activists called on the community to boycott the new system but it seems that the community will be forced to follow the rules if they are denied registration at schools.
